By using the Vatcore API you agree to the terms below. This is a working draft; the final version will be in place before paid signups open.

Service description

Vatcore wraps the VIES (European Commission) and HMRC (UK) VAT validation services behind a single HTTP API. We provide a cached, normalized response and best-effort availability when those upstream sources are unreachable.

No upstream SLA

VIES and HMRC do not provide contractual SLAs. We make best-effort guarantees but cannot offer an uptime guarantee stronger than the upstream sources we depend on. Cached results extend our availability for previously-seen VAT numbers; first-time lookups during an upstream outage will return HTTP 502.

Billing

Paid plans are billed monthly via Stripe. Each plan includes a fixed monthly quota. Once you reach your quota, we return HTTP 402 until your next billing period — no overage charges are applied automatically. You may upgrade or downgrade your plan at any time; quota counters reset on the Stripe billing period boundary.

Acceptable use

You agree not to use Vatcore to circumvent VIES or HMRC fair-use limits. Bulk pre-scraping of VAT numbers is prohibited.
